A short day today. Our rest stop last night was As Chivas, a rural auberge up in the hills north of Redondela, so instead of going all the way back to town, we instead walked up the steep hill to the summit of Outeiro Grande to enjoy splendid views over the estuary. Then we used a switchback forest path to descend to the Way. As soon as we rejoined we were passed by a lot of Camino walkers. The rest of the mileage comprised walking down into Arcade (‘our-CAH-dee’) and wandering around the port area where we visited a bar. Every time we order a drink, we are served a small snack, called a ‘pintxo’; this time it was beef stew which was delicious. Arcade is not a particularly beautiful town but the people were very nice. Best hotel shower yet.

In the forest section we noted a lot of purple foxgloves and the Merlin app told us we heard serin, blackcap, robin and wren.

Today’s lunch choices comprised cheese, ham or ham and cheese. We opted for the latter.
